Tonight, February 12, Emmy Award-winning Television Star and über personality, CARSON KRESSLEY, will host KARAOKE NIGHTS, ADRLF's second ever KARAOKE showdown and star-studded BENEFIT to raise awareness about viral hepatitis and liver cancer which took our beloved friend, Al D. Rodriguez just six weeks after being blind-sided with the almost unbelievable diagnosis.
The event's Host Committee includes
Sara Ramirez, Countess
Luann de Lesseps and Broadway beacons
Chuck Cooper, Dr.
André De Shields,
Michael Greif,
Dee Hoty,
Amber Iman,
Josh Young and Dr.
Lillias White.
This star-studded Olympics of KARAOKE will take place at the William
F. Ryan Chelsea-Clinton Community Health Center (645 10th Avenue at 45th Street).
The doors will open at 7:00pm. The bidding and the singing will begin at 7:30pm.
There will be light Hors d'Oeuvres. There will be a very well stocked bar. There will be a significantly worthy Silent Auction. And there will be history-making SINGING, fueled by some serious bidding on yourself or ANYONE ELSE in the room.
The highest bid could earn YOU a star turn at the microphone.
An even more lucrative bid could send an AWARD WINNER to the stage.
Presented by The
Al D. Rodriguez Liver Foundation (ADRLF) and The William
F. Ryan Community Health Network, KARAKOE NIGHTS is determined to raise awareness about viral hepatitis, this silent killer, liver health and lots of money for preventative research, free hepatitis vaccinations, free hepatitis screenings, liver health education seminars and counseling for the uninsured.
Al Rodriguez never took a drink. His liver cancer was brought on by Hepatitis, which left Al completely asymptomatic right up until his cancer diagnosis. Because he couldn't afford health insurance, and didn't have continuity of care, Al never knew how sick he was until it was too late.
He once said, "If I survive this, I am going to go out and educate the uninsured about these diseases."
The ADRLF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in memory of Al D. Rodriguez. We will demonstrate our commitment to Al by: fostering education through links on our website about timely and relevant articles; connecting people to health care resources that do not discriminate based on the inability to pay; strengthening our relationships with performing artists through staged readings and benefit fundraisers; supporting community health organizations that provide Hepatitis screenings; investing in grass roots clinics that provide free or low costs health care to their communities; and providing universal education about antiviral therapies for the Hepatitis virus.
