On February 28, 2014, downtown York's historic Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center will welcome internationally known actor and comedian Sinbad for a laugh-out-loud performance. Back by popular demand after a sold-out performance in January 2012, Sinbad is the newest addition to the Strand's hilariously funny comedy lineup. Tickets are on sale now to Strand-Capitol members and go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, September 4 at 10:00 a.m.
Well known for his "hit 'em in the face" style of comedy, Sinbad has kept audiences laughing for more than two decades. Ranked by Comedy Central as one of the top 100 stand-up comedians of all time, this funnyman has built a loyal following by taking audiences' painful trials or embarrassing tribulations of day-by-day life, throwing them back in their faces, and causing an uproar of comedic hysteria. An internationally known actor, Sinbad has starred in hit movies including Jingle All The Way playing opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger; Houseguest co-starring the late Phil Hartman; and let's not forget his film debut Necessary Roughness, where he did none of his own stunts! He has also starred on hit TV sitcoms including A Different World, HBO comedy specials including Son of a Preacher Man (1996) and Nothin' But The Funk (1998) and was seen in the third season of NBC's Celebrity Apprentice.
"We're excited to welcome back Sinbad to the Strand," said Ken Wesler, Strand-Capitol President and CEO. "What is great about Sinbad is that he really embraces the community where he performs and will even share some of his observations in his show, which just makes for a great night of comedy."
