On October 21st, Silent Street Productions will kick off it's 2011/2012 season with a staged reading of Mixtape, a new musical by Zoe Sarnak.
Mixtape is a series of vignettes, the moments and songs that together shape the life of record-store owners, Thatcher and Louise. As they pack up inventory in the store's final days, they take us through their shared story, track by track. Only as the project draws to a close, do we realize that for Louise, there is a more compelling reason behind making the mix. The greatest songs take on life and meaning beyond what the words and notes were written to convey.
The cast of Mixtape includes Kacie Sheik (Hair), Joseph Anthony Byrd (White Noise), Andrew Kober (Hair), Lilli Cooper (Spring Awakening), Tim Young (Next To Normal), Michael Lowney (La Cage aux Folles), and Laura D'Andre (Grease National Tour).
Laura Brandel directs, with music direction from Adam Watchter. Michael Alshooler, Laura Brandel, Kristen Brophy, Isaac Dayley serve as producers.
Zoe Sarnak is a composer, lyricist and playwright. She graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University where her first show, The Quad, was produced in 2009. In addition to numerous concert/cabaret features and performances with TheWD (her duo with Godspell's Eric Michael Krop), Sarnak has written two new musicals with upcoming New York debuts.
