Showtime Ups Broadway's Emily Bergl to SHAMELESS Regular

Showtime has promoted Broadway veteran and cabaret performer Emily Bergl to series regular on the dramedy SHAMELESS.

She is currently completing a 10-episode arc as Sammi Gallagher, the long-lost daughter to Frank Gallagher, played by William H. Macy. Sammi, a scrappy Chicago mother who has been married three times and engaged twelve, attempts to find a new liver for her hard-living father and bring him back to health.

Last year, Bergl starred in the Public Theater's The Comedy of Errors at the Delacorte Theater opposite Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and alongside Scarlett Johansson in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway. Her other Broadway credits include A Touch of the Poet, The Rivals, and The Lion in Winter.

Shameless' current fourth season is pacing as its highest-rated to date.
