Eugenio Derbez will play for only 18 weeks the role of Freddy Benson in the Mexican premiere of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels".

Derbez is Mexico's top comedian, well known for his TV series "Derbez en Cuando". He starred in "Latinologues" in 2006 at the Helen Hayes Theatre on Broadway and is currently featured in his first dramatic role in Fox Searchlight's hit "Under the Same Moon" (Sundance Film Festival Official Selection 2007) now showing in movie theatres all across North America and Mexico.

This will be the first time the Yazbek/Lane musical is presented in Spanish language.

DRS Mexico is directed by Eugenio Derbez, with a cast of 22 that includes Eugenio Montessoro (Chicago, The Graduate, Victor/Victoria) as Lawrence Jameson, pop star Alessandra Rosaldo as Christine Colgate, british born actress/singer/dancer Jacqueline Voltaire (Pippin) is Muriel, Dario Ripoll (Mr.Cellophane in Mexico's Chicago) as Andre and Shaula Vega as Jolene.

Previews began March 14th, so far the show has played 15 previews, 8 of them sold out consecutively.  Opening night for press set for March 26

Claudio Carrera with his producing company Retro Lab Producciones (www.retrolab-prod.com) produced in Mexico Kander and Ebb's "Cabaret", "Victor/Victoria", "The Graduate" and the Danish drama "Festen" starring international film star Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien). Carrera will next produce the revival of "The Sound of Music" for 2009 in Mexico and 2010 in Buenos Aires, as well the Mexico City premiere of Maury Yeston's "Nine", with Jaime Camil (Mambo Kings) in the leading role, planned for 2009.

OCESA Teatro, co-producers of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Mexico, produced the mexican stagings of "Les Miz", "Phantom of the Opera", "Rent", "The Producers", "Man of la Mancha" and "Beauty and the Beast".
