Shoshana Bean, best known for her star turns on the Broadway stage in Wicked and Hairspray and Off-Broadway's Godspell makes her concert debut in New York City with a one-night only performance. Presented by Upright Cabaret, Shoshana returns to New York fresh from her sold out summer concert smash at Hollywood's Ford Amphitheater. On Monday, November 30th, 2009,at 7:30 PM, Shoshana takes the stage at the Fredrick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Broadway at 60th Street, New York City, singing from the Streisand songbook and selections from her debut album, Superhero. A Happening is directed by Upright Cabaret Artistic Director and theatre legend, Billy Porter with musical direction by James Sampliner. A portion of $35-$150 ticket price goes to benefit Hadassah.

Inspired by her idol, Barbra Streisand, Shoshana Bean began her career in New York, cast in the Off-Broadway revival of Godspell. While working on her own pop / R&B flavored music, she appeared in the Tony-award winning original cast of Hairspray and took over the leading role of Elphaba in Broadway's Wicked from Idina Menzel. Television viewers have seen her on the "Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards" singing Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way" alongside Brian McKnight for the national telecast. Recently, Shoshana appeared on the Vegas stage in Peepshow by Jerry Mitchell, opposite Holly Madison. In fact, she was just featured in Episode 2 of this season's Girls Next Door on E! on stage with Holly and Hef!

In 2008, Shoshana dropped her debut album, Superhero, from her own imprint, Shotime Records, which rose to #5 on the iTunes top 10 list as her modern soulful stylings wowed listeners. With A Happening, Shoshana has come full circle returning from her successful turn in Los Angeles to sing live on her home turf. Her two act solo show, directed by Billy Porter, takes the audience on a journey from the classic to the contemporary, beginning with selections from the Streisand songbook, evolving to her own material. This show features standards like "Cry Me A River" and "On A Clear Day" and her hit songs "116th" and "Superhero".

Shoshana Bean was most recently seen starring opposite Holly Madison in the Las Vegas burlesque spectacular, Peepshow. She defied gravity as the green-skinned witch, Elphaba in the Broadway and touring production of Wicked, and her debut solo album, Superhero hit #5 on the iTunes R&B charts, making it the only independent album in the top 100.

Shoshana was in the original cast of the Tony-award winning musical, Hairspray and the Off-Broadway revival of Godspell. Other theater credits include: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Weber at the Kennedy Center and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera. Shoshana sang back up for an endless list of superstars at Michael Jackson's 30th Anniversary celebration at Madison Square Garden and shared the stage with Grammy Award nominee Brian McKnight at "The Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards" to honor Aretha Franklin.

She has lent her voice to the film soundtracks for Enchanted, Hairspray and Dance Flick. As a singer / songwriter her work has been featured on MTV's "The Hills" and NBC. Her album, Superhero is available on iTunes and Amazon. For more information, visit www.shoshanabean.com.
