Britney Spears recently performed three nights of her "CIRCUS' Tour to sell out crowds at Madison Square Garden.

In her spare time, Britney has become a "Broadway Baby," hitting the town with her children - Sean, age 3, and Jayden, age 2 - to see Rialto family favorites "The Little Mermaid" and "SHREK The Musical." Word even has it that Spears quietly snuck in to a performance of "Wicked."

Britney Spears is no stranger to Broadway and the Big Apple, though; the pop star has lived in New York City on and off since she was a child. The singer even understudied Laura Bell Bundy in the 1992 Off-Broadway hit "Ruthless."

Clearly remembering her stage roots, Britney visited In the Heights in December 2008, while she filmed her MTV 90-minute documentary "Britney: For the Record."

After she saw the Tony-winning musical, Spears stopped backstage to congratulate the cast and had a post show dinner with cast members Seth Stewart and Christopher Jackson. The pop-star gushed on-camera about the show and star Lin-Manuel Miranda.

In 2005 Spears was in negotiations to take over in Broadway's Sweet Charity for Christina Applegate. Sources at the time revealed that Spears turned down the role because she did not want to uproot her family from Los Angeles. The singer was also concerned about making such a long committment.

Britney Spears resumed her Circus world tour in Hamilton, Canada last Thursday after a month-long hiatus, during which she spent at home in Los Angeles.

Britney Spears became a powerful member of the teen genre return in the late '90s. The runaway success of the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys opened the door for her own musical breakthrough. Spears quickly became a a pop icon with her stunning debut release. She has since gone on to sell millions of records and confirm her status as a pop culture personality.
