Family Secrets, written by Sherry Glaser and Greg Howells, directed by Bob Balaban, and performed by Glaser, will play its final performance Sunday, April 9, at 37 Arts (450 W. 37th).
Family Secrets opened on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, and will have played 15 preview and 39 regular performances at closing. The show was to have closed on June 18th after having recently been extended. April 16th was set as the original closing date.Family Secrets

one-woman shows in Off-Broadway history," according to press notes.Glaser began her career in improvisation in the early 1980's in San Diego in the company of Whoopi Goldberg, Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy. She created her first solo show, Coping, with her then-husband, Greg Howells. In 1990 she debuted Family Secrets
in Los Angeles to acclaim (L.A's Drama Critic's Award and two Ovation
Award nominations), toured it nationally (Carbonelle Award of South
Florida for Best Actress, San Diego Critics Award for Best Touring
Company) and then opened Off Broadway in New York in 1993 (NY Theater
World Award for Best Debut, a Drama Desk Award nomination, and an Outer
Critics Circle Award nomination for Best Solo Performance.). Other
credits include the theater/dance piece Remember This, In Touch with Reality, Oh My Goddess! and The Adventures of Super Activist Mother. Her weekly "Good News" comedy program is heard on radio station KZYX.
The scenic design for Family Secrets
is by Rob Odorisio, the lighting design is by John-Paul Szczepanski
based on the original design by Brian MacDevitt, and the sound design
is by Ryan Powers. The show is presented
by Harriet Newman Leve in association with Dan Markley/Mike Skipper,
Debbie Bisno, Alexandra Shapiro and Brian Swibel and associate
producers Ron Nicynski and Laura Wagner.
