Family Secrets, written by Sherry Glaser and Greg Howells, directed by Bob Balaban, and performed by Glaser, will play its final performance Sunday, April 9, at 37 Arts (450 W. 37th).

Family Secrets opened on Wednesday, March 8, 2006, and will have played 15 preview and 39 regular performances at closing. The show was to have closed on June 18th after having recently been extended. April 16th was set as the original closing date.

Family Secrets "is an intimate portrait of five members of a Jewish family transplanted from the Bronx to Southern California. Both hilarious and deeply moving, Family Secrets transcends cultural boundaries and remains one of the longest running one-woman shows in Off-Broadway history," according to press notes.

Glaser began her career in improvisation in the early 1980's in San Diego in the company of Whoopi Goldberg, Mo Gaffney and Kathy Najimy. She created her first solo show, Coping, with her then-husband, Greg Howells. In 1990 she debuted Family Secrets in Los Angeles to acclaim (L.A's Drama Critic's Award and two Ovation Award nominations), toured it nationally (Carbonelle Award of South Florida for Best Actress, San Diego Critics Award for Best Touring Company) and then opened Off Broadway in New York in 1993 (NY Theater World Award for Best Debut, a Drama Desk Award nomination, and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination for Best Solo Performance.). Other credits include the theater/dance piece Remember This, In Touch with Reality, Oh My Goddess! and The Adventures of Super Activist Mother. Her weekly "Good News" comedy program is heard on radio station KZYX.

The scenic design for Family Secrets is by Rob Odorisio, the lighting design is by John-Paul Szczepanski based on the original design by Brian MacDevitt, and the sound design is by Ryan Powers.
The show is presented by Harriet Newman Leve in association with Dan Markley/Mike Skipper, Debbie Bisno, Alexandra Shapiro and Brian Swibel and associate producers Ron Nicynski and Laura Wagner.

Tickets are available via internet through Ticketmaster.com, by phone at (212) 307-4100 or at the 37 Arts Box Office (450 W. 37th Street).
