Shelley McPherson's electrifying and timely new comedy-thriller 'Knifeplay' gets its debut reading this weekend as part of Boomerang Theatre Company's First Flight New Play Festival.
Selected from hundreds of submissions to First Flight, Knifeplay is directed by Jerry Ruiz with a cast featuring Mary Bacon, Chris Bolan, Latoya Edwards, Keithen Hergott, Mark Lang, Will Mann, Thea McCartan, Noah Racey, Lisa Tharps, and Stewart Walker.
'Knifeplay' centers on Liz, whose dream acting job becomes a Broadway nightmare onstage and off as her manipulative, gas-lighting male co-star and an enabling director and apologist colleagues force her to defend her life during rehearsals for a Cold War-era spy thriller. Who is mad? Who is sane? Is that a dagger she sees before her?
Boomerang's 'First Flight' reading of Shelley McPherson's 'Knifeplay' is this Saturday, January 13, 7 pm, at ART/NY (520 Eighth Ave, 3rd Floor). Reservations: reservations@boomerangtheatre.org.
