Shelby Company Presents THE LAND WHALE MURDERS 12/2-18

Shelby Company presents the world premiere of THE LAND WHALE MURDERS, a dizzying tale of murder and deceit from the mind of playwright Jonathan A. Goldberg (LUCK OF THE IBIST, My FATHER IS A TETRIS GAME), directed by Tom Ridgely (#9, THE|KING|OPERETTA).

It's 1896 and someone sinister is killing off members of the Four Elementals, New York City's quintessential brain trust. Police Commissioner Teddy Roosevelt suspects dread eco-terrorist, The Fish Monger; the remaining Elementals suspect Big Whale Oil's henchmen, the notorious Blowhole Gang and their cutthroat leader, Pirate Penny. The bizarre and impossible abounds in the mysterious case of, THE LAND WHALE MURDERS.

The creative team will include M. L. Dogg (Sound Design), Deanna Frieman (Costume Design), Greg Goff (Lighting Design), Maggie Macdonald (Fight Choreography) and Jason Simms (Set Design). The production will be Stage Managed by Marianne Broome.

THE LAND WHALE MURDERS will run December 2-18 (Previews December 2 & 3, Opening Night December 4) Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm with an additional performance on Sunday, December 5 at 7pm at Theatre 3 (311 West 43rd Street, 3rd Floor). JONATHAN A. GOLDBERG (Playwright) has had work seen at The Public Theater, The Barrow Street Theater, NJ Rep, the Theater Garage in Minneapolis, the Pear Theater in Northern California and the Complex in Hollywood. His play HOW TO SHOOT A BULL MOOSE won the Israel Baran award from the Theatricum Botanicum. He was a guest artist at the LABrynth Summer Intensive and was a Jerome Fellowship finalist. He won the Rita and Burton Award for Playwriting and received an MFA in dramatic writing from the Tisch School of the Arts. This summer he was the book-writer and co-lyricist for the Waterwell musical THE WIZARD OF WALL STREET, presented at IU for their Premier Musical Program. He is thrilled to be once again working with Shelby Company.
