Tony Award-winning Spring Awakening masterminds Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater will debut a new song, "Just There," at the Roundabout Theatre Company's Sondheim 80 benefit on March 22. "Just There" was composed for the event.
Stephen Sondheim turns 80 on Monday, March 22nd, 2010 and he will celebrate this landmark event with Roundabout Theatre Company at a special performance of Sondheim on Sondheim and star-studded tribute at Roundabout's 2010 Spring Gala: Sondheim 80.
As part of Sondheim 80, Roundabout will also host a public online auction, featuring several rare and unique items including theatre and sporting tickets as well as exclusive Roundabout memorabilia. All proceeds will go to Roundabout's Music Theatre Fund. The auction is now open and will continue until 9:00pm on Sunday, March 28, 2010. Sondheim on Sondheim stars Barbara Cook, Vanessa Williams and Tom Wopat. Music & lyrics are by Stephen Sondheim and the production is conceived & directed by James Lapine. The 2010-2011 season will include Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest, starring and directed by Brian Bedford. Roundabout's sold out production of The 39 Steps made its third transfer to the New World Stages after a successful Broadway run at three Broadway theatres.
