Sheik, Burkhardt et al. Set for HAIR Tour; Full Cast Announced!

The producers of The Public Theater's Tony Award-winning production of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical are pleased to announce casting for the National Tour, which will come to Chicago's Oriental Theatre for a limited, two-week engagement March 9 - 20, 2011.
Oskar Eustis, Artistic Director of The Public Theater, commented, "The National Tribe of Hair are the most beautiful beasts in the forest, an amazingly talented group who will be bringing HAIR'S message of peace and justice across the United States. Let the sun shine in!"

The cast will feature members from the recent Broadway production of HAIR including Steel Burkhardt as Berger, Matt DeAngelis as Woof, Kaitlin Kiyan as Crissy, Darius Nichols as Hud, Paris Remillard as Claude, Kacie Sheik as Jeanie, Nicholas Belton, Larkin Bogan, Allison Guinn, Josh Lamon, John Moauro, Kate Rockwell, Cailan Rose, Jen Sese, Lawrence Stallings and Lee Zarrett. Additional HAIR alumni include Phyre Hawkins as Dionne and Caren Lyn Tackett as Sheila.

The cast will also feature newcomers Shaleah Adkisson, Emily Afton, Corey Bradley, Marshal Kennedy Carolan, Laura Dreyfuss, Mike Evariste, Lulu Fall, Tripp Fountain, Nkrumah Gatling, Christine Nolan, Emmy Raver-Lampman and Tanesha Ross.

HAIR won the 2009 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival as well as the Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical. HAIR was also nominated for an additional seven Tony Awards including Best Direction, Best Choreography, Best Costume Design, Best Lighting Design and Best Sound Design. The cast recording was also nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
With a score including such enduring musical numbers as "Let the Sun Shine In," Aquarius," "Hair" and "Good Morning Starshine," HAIR depicts the birth of a cultural movement in the 60's and 70's that changed America forever. The show resonates with an irresistible message of hope more than 40 years after it first opened on Broadway.

The New York Times says "Diane Paulus's THRILLING, EMOTIONALLY RICH production delivers INTENSE, UNADULTERATED JOY" and Time Out New York says "HAIR SPEAKS TO A WHOLE NEW GENERATION!."

The full creative team behind the Broadway production is on board for the National Tour, including Diane Paulus (Director), Karole Armitage (Choreography), Scott Pask (Scenic Design), Michael McDonald (Costume Design), Kevin Adams (Lighting Design) and Acme Sound Design (Sound Design). HAIR features a book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado and music by Galt MacDermot.

HAIR is a part of the 2011 Broadway In Chicago Spring Season Series. Subscribers can purchase tickets as part of the season subscription series, which is currently on sale. Kaitlin Kiyan (Crissy) feels so lucky to start another journey with the beautiful tribe! She recently realized that it's getting late, so come what may, for it may not stay...Love to her family back in Hawaii for being who they are. As for Jeff, beloved brother, this ones for you. Darius Nichols (Hud) appeared on Broadway in the original casts of HAIR (Hud), South Pacific and 110 in the Shade. Original Off-Broadway casts of Zanna Don't and Junie B.
