She NYC Arts to Launch Free Workshop for High School Students

She NYC Arts, New York City's only festival devoted to producing full-length plays, musicals, and adaptations by female-identifying writers, is excited to launch CreateHER, a free 6-session workshop for female-identifying high school students interested in playwriting or producing. CreateHER strives to expand She NYC's mission of showcasing the talent of female theatre artists, by introducing students to the steps needed to develop their own material. The workshop is designed to provide students with mentors as they write and produce short plays as well as a setting to learn about opportunities that may be available to them should they be interested in pursuing a career in theatre. The program will culminate in a performance of 10-minute plays, written and produced by the students, during the She NYC Summer Theater Festival at The Connelly Theatre in 2019. She NYC Arts is also accepting script submissions for the 2019 She NYC and She LA Summer Theater Festivals. They are looking for full-length plays, musicals, and adaptations by women-identifying writers and composers (or writing teams that are made up of a least 50% women).
