Sharing Her Teenage Experience Through Verse, new Author Tells... Image Years ago, Randi Owens used the power of poetry to survive the tough times and learn to embrace her emotions. Owens now offers those poems to others with her poetry collection entitled “This . . . Is About Life: Book I: Cherish Your Beginning” (published by Archway Press). The book is available for purchase at: https://www.amazon.com/This-About-Life-Cherish-Beginning/dp/1546953787.

The first of three poetry books representing her life, “Cherish Your Beginning” characterizes Owen’s teenage life growing up in a foster home with four of her biological siblings following the death of their parents. Mostly written over a five-year period, the verses mainly share life encounters, interactions and observations of others, with some nonsensical additions that provide a bit of humor to help readers through their day. Owens says that many of the poems reflect on her inherent courage and determination to succeed even when the odds were against her.

“When writing the poems, oftentimes there was an upheaval of emotions filled with a need to acknowledge an inner strength necessary for me to ‘Cherish My Beginning,’” Owens states. Adding advice for readers, she instructs “Cherish your beginning and use it as a stepping stone for a better life.”
