Last week, 'Dancing with the Stars' kicked off its 10th season on ABC with 11 stars hoping to make a big impression on both the judges and the audience. Despite a respectable performance with partner Mark Ballas, Shannen Doherty was the first to be voted off the show, lacking in the fan vote.
Doherty was joined in the bottom two for the week by Pamela Anderson (another judge favorite). After the two competed in the final dance-off, it was Anderson who slipped through.
Said Doherty of her defeat: "I think that dancing isn't really my thing. I'm an actor and it's what I love to do. I did this for my dad, and I did exactly what I wanted. And I think it's fate - my partner is hurt." (Ballas is injured and had Dougherty won, he would have been replaced on the show by his dad, Corky.) "To be honest, I wouldn't want to go on without Mark."
Many were surprised at the outcome, considering the less-than-stellar performances of tabloid queen Kate Gosselin and partner Tony Dovolani, and moon man Buzz Aldrin. Where the two lacked in judges scores they made up in fan support.
The technical standout of the evening was once again Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger an her partner Derek Hough, who shined with a jive and earned a near perfect score from the judges of 28 our of 30.
The Beach Boys served as the musical guests for last night's competition, playing with John Stamos.
All 11 teams showcase their fancy footwork on Mondays, at 8:00-10:00 PM. The couple with the lowest combined judges' scores and public votes for both performances will be sent home.
Viewers may cast their votes for their favorite teams via phone on Monday night during and up to 30 minutes after the "Dancing with the Stars" performance shows. AT&T customers may also text message their votes by texting the word "VOTE" and entering the number that corresponds to the team they want to support (message and data rates may apply).
