The Times of London is reporting that an application called Callisto is hoping to expand to the entertainment industry and help collect reports on sexual harassment, abuse, and rape.
Callisto is currently in use on many college campuses where students can report experiences that are then kept in an encrypted database. The database gathers information about offenders and matches victims of repeat offenders in an effort to make the victims feel safer about coming forward.
In the wake of the #MeToo movement and the Weinstein situation, Callisto is now aiming to work closely with the entertainment, primarily Broadway, industry. Theatre professionals reportedly met at A.R.T.and some New York theatres to discuss implementing the app.
