Seldes, Sternhagen, Etc as 'Broadway Blessing' Guests 9/10

Marian Seldes, Frances Sternhagen and Three Mo' Tenors are among the performers scheduled for this year's Broadway Blessing concert, at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, (1047 Amsterdam Ave. at 112th Street) on September 10 at 7PM.

Broadway Blessing is an evening of song, story and dance that brings the theatre community together every September before the new season.  The event is free and reservations are not necessary.

"The evening will begin with a Hebrew chant by Rabbi Jill Hausman of the Actors Temple," describes press notes, "Three Mo' Tenors, who will be appearing in September at the Little Shubert Theatre, will follow with a gospel medley and later sing 'Make Them Hear You' from Ragtime.  Seldes and Sternhagen will offer a dialogue/meditation about their lives in the theatre.  Pianist Mary-Mitchell Campbell, who won a Drama Desk Award in May for her work as musical director of Company, will perform. Later composer/lyricist/playwright Phil Hall's group, passage, made up of Andy Redeker, Chad McCallon, and Jeff Applegate, will sing 'The Moon Will Shine Its Light' from Matthew Passion, Hall's play that had a successful off-Broadway run in the spring…

"Dozen of dancers from Project Dance will perform original numbers choreographed by founder Cheryl Cutlip and will also dance the light around the Cathedral after the Rev. Canon Tom Miller, the Cathedral's canon for liturgy and the arts, and Rabbi Hausman offer a prayer for the new season and light a large candle. In addition to clergy from the Cathedral and the Actors‚ Temple, the Rev. Mitties  DeChamplain will represent St. Clement's Episcopal Church.  The Broadway Blessing choir, under the direction of Cathedral organist Timothy Brumfield, will sing."
