Spamalot's Christopher Sieber and Jersey Boys' Daniel Reichard will serve as rotation masters at "Broadway Bares XVII: Myth Behavior," which will be held Sunday, June 17 at Roseland Ballroom (239 West 52nd Street) for two performances only (9:30 PM and midnight). "Broadway Bares" is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS.
"All of Mount Olympus will tremble at this year's edition of 'Broadway Bares' which will feature a pantheon of gods and goddesses (and a few mere mortals for them to toy with). 'Broadway Bares' will celebrate Greek mythology with the 'Broadway Bares' twist that makes the event one of the hottest of the summer. From the chiseled physiques of Narcissus and Poseidon to the deadly alluring Medusa to the debauched Bacchus and the legendary Amazons, a veritable clash of the titans will take place on stage at the Roseland Ballroom as hundreds of Broadway's hottest bodies bare it all for BC/EFA," as described in press materials.
Theatre stars Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins), Laura Bell Bundy (Legally Blonde), Harvey Fierstein (A Catered Affair, Hairspray), Deidre Goodwin (A Chorus Line), Capathia Jenkins (Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me), Leslie Kritzer (Legally Blonde), The Living Art of Armando, David Hyde Pierce (Curtains), Bebe Neuwirth (Chicago), and Daphne Rubin-Vega (Jack Goes Boating, Rent) are all scheduled to appear in this year's "Broadway Bares."
This year's opening number will be written by Gary Adler (Altar Boyz). Jeffrey Lane (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) will be penning the script for "Broadway Bares."
"Broadway Bares" is produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, executive produced by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Hairspray) and directed by Denis Jones (Legally Blonde, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).
Tony Award-nominee Sieber, who currently plays Sir Galahad in Spamalot, has appeared on Broadway in Into the Woods, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Triumph of Love, Chicago and Beauty and the Beast. Reichard plays Bob Gaudio in Jersey Boys. He has been seen on New York stages in Forbidden Broadway: 20th Anniversary Celebration, Radiant Baby, and The Thing About Men, among other shows.
Since its first incarnation in 1992, the 16 previous editions of "Broadway Bares" have collectively raised almost $4 million to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
