Secrets of a Soccer Mom to Close on May 4

SECRETS OF A SOCCER MOM, a new play by Kathleen Clark directed by two-time Tony Award winner Judith Ivey, will play its final performance on Sunday, May 4, 2008 after 69 regular and 17 preview performances. The show began previews on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the Snapple Theater Center (50th Street at Broadway) and opened on Wednesday, March 5, 2008. The production stars Caralyn Kozlowski, Nancy Ringham and Deborah Sonnenberg.

In the play, three women leave their traditional spot on the sidelines to play in the annual mother-son soccer game. This ordinary day becomes extraordinary as the competition ignites their fierce desire to recapture their spirit, humor and passion.

SECRETS OF A SOCCER MOM takes a look at a part of life that is rarely explored on stage. It speaks to everyone, no matter age or gender, in attempting to answer that age old question: how in the world did I wind up here?

Variety called the critically acclaimed production "a sympathetic and compelling comedy with constant laughs". SECRETS OF A SOCCER MOM debuted as "Soccer Moms" at Fleetwood Stage (Westchester, NY) and The New York Times said, "Let's hear it for Soccer Moms, a diverting new comedy by Kathleen Clark; a lovely fusion of three excellent actresses giving nuanced performances, diving into the emotional undercurrents of the playwright's slick style and crisp dialogue, under the knowing direction of Judith Ivey."

The production featured scenic design by Lex Liang, lighting design by Jeff Croiter, costume design by Elizabeth Flauto and sound design by Zach Williamson. SECRETS OF A SOCCER MOM was produced Off-Broadway by A-FRAME PRODUCTIONS.
