Seacoast Rep in New Hampshire Presents Ragtime March 18 - April 17

Seacoast Repertory Theatre is pleased to present Ragtime, an epic musical based on E.L. Doctorow's novel, by the award-winning composer/lyricist team of Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, which paints a nostalgic and powerful portrait of life in turn-of-the-century America. Ragtime intertwines the saga of three ethnically diverse New York families touched and changed by the forces of society illustrating history's timeless contradictions of wealth and poverty, freedom and prejudice, hope and despair, and love and hate. A winner of 4 Tony Awards in 1998 including Best Score, Best Book and Best Orchestration Ragtime features show-stopping songs such as "Getting Ready Rag," "Your Daddy's Son," "Wheels of a Dream," "Till We Reach That Day," "Back to Before" and "Make Them Hear You."

SRT's production of Ragtime is placed in the capable hands of Mr. Brett Mallard who will be making his SRT directorial debut with this production. However, Mr. Mallard is no stranger to the SRT stage having been seen many times as a performer in productions of The Odd Couple, 1776 and as the title role in Sweeney Todd. Mr. Mallard directed a production of Ragtime for Actorsingers in Nashua which won 5 NH Theatre Awards including Best Musical in 2004. The rest of the artistic team includes Choreography by Brandon Mallard, Musical Direction by William Asher, Scenic Design by Dane E. Leeman, Lighting Design by Aaron Hutto and Costume Design by Susan Cassidy.

Ragtime runs on the Seacoast Repertory Theatre Mainstage at 125 Bow Street in downtown Portsmouth, NH from March 18 - April 17, 2005 with show times on Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, Saturdays at 4pm & 8pm and Sundays at 3pm.
