New York, June 30, 2013--Noel Bote Bautista, Washington (State)-based caregiver and sculptor, opens his second solo exhibit titled "Enigma" at the Philippine Center (556 Fifth Ave., between 46th and 47th Streets) on Tuesday, July 2 at 6 p.m.; the event is open to the public.

Bautista, whose earliest inspiration was the Taal Basilica, was born October 15, 1969 in the historic town of Taal in Batangas, Philippines. His childhood was a witness to the beauty of nature: from majestic ocean views to exotic fish and corals.

During his teenage years, Bautista was introduced to some of the greatest works of art--exquisite paintings and sculptures--in the Vatican Museums. Several years later, while living in Africa, local art pieces--ivory and wood sculptures; the vibrant colors of African fabrics--have influenced his artworks.

With dreams of holding his first solo exhibition in New York City, Bautista came to America in 2003 and worked on an extensive portfolio of acrylic paintings with underwater tropical images as its unifying theme.

In January 2010, Bautista finally opened his first solo exhibit at the Philippine Center. His art has since progressively evolved from paintings to sculptures.

"My patients, who amidst suffering intense physical and mental pains remain hopeful, have inspired me to create these artworks. My work as a caregiver has gifted me self-worth and happiness. I have learned to love both my work as a caregiver and as an artist. I hope that as you look at my art, the mystery of life (enigma)--as I see it--is also revealed you," he said.

Bautista holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the Lyceum of the Philippines.

Currently in the works is a coffee table book that showcases the personal collections of the artist.

"Enigma" is on display until Friday, July 12.
