The Center has announced its new 'In Concert' series celebrating the artistry of Broadway's most distinguished performers.
The series launches with Tony-nominated Broadway leading lady – Sherie Rene Scott – on Monday, December 4, 2006, at 7:00pm. This will be followed by a trio of best friends – Douglas Sills, Todd Murray and Sally Wilfert – on Monday, January 29, 2007, and a Falsettos reunion of sorts featuring Broadway favorites Michael Rupert and Alison Fraser on Monday, March 19, 2007. All three concerts take place at The Center. Tickets are $20, $35, $75 and $150 – with a cocktail reception for the high-tier prices. Discount subscriptions are also available.
"Tony Award-nominee Sherie Rene Scott is best known for her starring roles in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, AIDA and The Last Five Years, and as a recording artist on Sh-K-Boom Records. In the midst of what she describes as a 'surprisingly fragile state for such a robust young woman,' Sherie Rene Scott will sing, chat and prove to herself and the audience that we're not in Kansas anymore," as press materials describe.
"Then, three best friends – Broadway heart-throb Douglas Sills (Little Shop of Horrors, Tony-nominee for The Scarlet Pimpernel), veteran crooner Todd Murray and wildly talented Sally Wilfert (Broadway's Tom Sawyer and Assassins) – come together for an evening of varying musical styles and humor.
Finally, there will be a reunion of two of the original stars of March of the Falsettos! Tony Award-winner Michael Rupert and Tony Award-nominee Alison Fraser return to their roots revisiting songs from Falsettos as well as gems by William Finn cut from the show. We'll also hear funny early drafts of finished songs that we know and love, as well as songs by other emerging voices in contemporary musical theatre."
'In Concert' is produced by Jayson Raitt and Daniel Whitman.
