Scion announces that its lifestyle gallery and retail space on Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles, called the Scion A/V Installation, will host famed poster artist Jermaine Rogers for a month long installation that will open to the public today June 22. Rogers is set to open his highly anticipated exhibit today, June 22nd immediately following the closing of the projects current residing exhibit by New York's cult fashion label Hood By Air.
The Scion A/V Installation program will bring the Brooklyn/Houston-based based artist, who has done over 800 illustrations for musical acts dating back through the mid 1990s, to the west coast for a pop up shop wherein he will showcase a selection of his work and limited prints from his extensive history with top musicians.
Rogers, widely recognized as being one of the fundamental leaders in the field of modern rock poster art as well as the designer vinyl scene, has a distinctive style of line art which has become instantly recognizable. Rogers' artwork often features controversial imagery that speaks to cultural and social issues. His success is a result of the distinctive nature of his work, his ability to continually push the boundaries of traditional poster art via the use of his emotion-evoking bold-line technique met with his keen sense of relevant social issues and how to marry the two. It is with this rare ability to communicate a clear and significant message via an emotional, and memorable, illustration that Rogers has been able to collaborate with top musical talents over the past decade; the Scion A/V Installation will allow the artist to showcase and retail selections of his work from both past and present collaborations with bands & artists including but not limited to: Queens Of The Stone Age, The Mars Volta, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Radiohead, Neil Young, Tool, Weezer, Tori Amos, David Bowie, Public Enemy, The Deftones, The Melvins, Eddie Vedder, Band of Horses, Morrissey, Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, and more.
"Rogers, a longtime friend of the Scion A/V initiative has collaborated with our arts and music programming in various ways over the past years," explains Jeri Yoshizu, manager of sales promotions at Scion. "After having contributed his talents for the 2012 Scion(Music)less Music Conference alongside artists including Action Bronson and Harry Fraud, the dialogue began about hosting a solo exhibit for the artist within the Scion A/V Installation Space in Los Angeles. It is with open arms that we welcome this renowned artist as the newest edition to a growing roster of creatives participating within the installation space at 7667 Melrose Avenue."
The limited edition products which Rogers will retail within the Scion A/V Installation space will include not only the artists famed screenprinted concert posters, but also offer fans and collectors the opportunity to shop custom products designed by the artist for the Scion retail space. These limited edition products will include small items such as lighters, meditation candles, and mugs that will feature Rogers iconic imagery. In addition, Rogers will debut a new resin sculpture along with new art prints at the opening reception for the month long pop up.
