Broadway regular and Hollywood star Liev Schreiber headlines Showtime's new series Ray Donovan and he discusses his leading role on the action-packed new crime-themed drama in a new promotional featurette, as does recognizable co-star Jon Voight.
"I've always been intrigued by the psychology of violence and the tremendous vulnerability that it often hides," Schreiber says of a central theme of the series.
"I enjoy characters where it's not obvious what's happening," he illustrates in speaking of the title role.
"The more you get to know them, as in any relationship, that's when more comes out - and that's definitely the case with Ray," or so Schreiber hints of what we can perhaps expect in the coming episodes of Season 1.
As for Ray's tough-to-please father, Mickey Donovan? "Ray has a lot of issues with his dad. He holds him responsible for a lot of the things that are haunting him," says Schreiber.
"They've all been damaged in some way because of his lack of parenting," Voight reveals of his character and the negative effect he has had on his children.
RAY DONOVAN is a brand new series starring Schreiber as a Los Angeles-based Hollywood fixer. The series was created by Anne Biderman and also stars Jon Voight, James Woods and Elliott Gould in recurring roles, as well as Patricia Arquette.
The twelve-episode first season of Ray Donovan begins the same night as DEXTER's S8 premiere, June 30.
