School Of Rock's Joel Waggoner Debuts New Single UNLIKELY WARRIOR

Singer-songwriter Joel Waggoner (School of Rock, Southern Comfort) has released his new single "Unlikely Warrior" with an accompanying music video.

Waggoner's soulful sound has captivated audiences in The Public's Southern Comfort while his infectious enthusiasm garners laughs in Broadway's School of Rock. Now, the singer-songwriter has put pen to paper and produced a folk-rock single with a depth and breadth that compliments Waggoner's nuanced performance.

In response to what this single means to him, Waggoner says, "I wanted to write an anthem for the underestimated. I wanted to fight, but without violence. This song is about the awakening in all of us to be seen, to be counted, and to resist. Not with hatred and bigotry, but with radical, piercing love."

Joel Waggoner is a New York-based writer and performer. He received his MFA from the NYU Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program. Joel was a 2012 Dramatist Guild Fellow and 2009 ASCAP Max Dreyfus Award-winner. His musical Presto Change-O (book/lyrics by Eric Price) was Barrington Stage Company's first commissioned musical and received a world premiere in May 2016. His songs have been performed at Joe's Pub, Feinstein's/54 Below, Birdland, Merkin Recital Hall, Lincoln Center, Barrington Stages, New Voices in Seattle, and Playwrights Horizons.
