The producers of the revival of WEST SIDE STORY announced today that Broadway newcomer Sarah Amengual will be Broadway's "Maria" beginning Tuesday, September 21, 2010. 2009 Tony Award nominee Josefina Scaglione will play her final performance as "Maria" on Sunday, September 19, 2010. Ms. Amengual follows in this production's tradition of brining fresh new talent to the role of "Maria."

Sarah Amengual is making her Broadway debut in WEST SIDE STORY having just graduated from University of Miami with a BFA in Acting, with regional credits that include Les Miserables (Eponine), Parade (Mary Phagan), Ruthless (Tina) and Rent (Mimi).

WEST SIDE STORY currently stars, Matthew Hydzik, Josefina Scaglione, Natalie Cortez, John Arthur Greene, George Akram and Jeremy Jordan, with Steve Bassett, Kyle Brenn, Mike Cannon, Kyle Coffman, Sara Dobbs, Wes Hart, Michael Kleeman, Ron Piretti, Colt Prattes, Manuel Santos, Lee Sellars, Ryan Steele, Greg Vinkler, Mikey Winslow, Mark Zimmerman, Deanna Aguinaga, Shawn Burgess, Isaac Calpito, Haley Carlucci, Jace Coronado, Kristine Covillo, Desirée Davar, Stephen Diaz, Lindsay Dunn, Michael D. Jablonski, Marina Lazzaretto, Renée Marino, Matthew Marks, Mileyka Mateo, Skye Mattox, Kaitlin Mesh, Shina Ann Morris, Angelina Mullins, Kat Nejat, Patrick Ortiz, Pamela Otterson, Waldemar Quinones-Villanueva, Alex Ringler, Sam Rogers, Brendon Stimson, Tanairi Sade Vazquez and Michael Williams.

WEST SIDE STORY is directed by its two-time Tony Award winning librettist Arthur Laurents with the original Jerome Robbins choreography restaged by Tony Award nominee Joey McKneely, and won the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. WEST SIDE STORY recouped its $14 million investment after running only 30 weeks (247 performances), and a national touring production launches in Detroit in September 2010, crossing the country to cities including Los Angeles, Orlando, Houston and Atlanta.

Tickets for WEST SIDE STORY at Broadway's Palace Theatre (1564 Broadway) are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com (212-307-4100) or at the Palace Theatre box office and range from $121.50 - $46.50. WEST SIDE STORY plays Tuesday at 7 p.m., Wednesday - Saturday at 8 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
