Producers of the five-time Tony Award nominated hit musical, ROCK OF AGES announced today that Savannah Wise will officially take over the role of Sherrie, effective immediately. After having understudied the role since performances began on Broadway on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street), Ms. Wise will star opposite Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis. Her former theatre credits include Broadway/ Off-Broadway/Nat'l tour: Les Misérables, Rock of Ages off-Broadway, Disney's High School Musical. Regional: Happy Days (Joanie), Beauty and the Beast (Belle), Annie Get Your Gun (Winnie Tate). She has also appeared as a TV guest star on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and "Rescue Me." Ms. Wise is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music

"It is that rare and fortunate instance in show business where it becomes necessary for the understudy to step into the role and she exceeds your wildest expectations," says Matt Weaver, lead producer.

In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small-town girl met a big-city dreamer - and in L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the ‘80's. It's ROCK OF AGES, a hilarious, feel-good love story told through the hit songs of iconic rockers Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more. Don't miss this awesomely good time where big hair meets big dreams and the result totally wails. The show is written by Chris D'Arienzo (writer and director of the upcoming film Barry Munday), directed by Kristin Hanggi (Bare, Pussycat Dolls on the Sunset Strip) and choreographed by Kelly Devine (Jersey Boys - Associate Choreographer).

ROCK OF AGES was nominated for Five 2009 Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, Best Actor in a Musical (Constantine Maroulis), Best Direction of a Musical, Best Costume Design of a Musical, and Best Sound Design of a Musical. Additionally, Wesley Taylor won a 2009 Theatre World Award for his portrayal of "Franz." Tickets can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com/ 212-307-4100 or in person at The Brooks Atkinson Box Office (256 W. 47th Street).
