Some of the biggest names on Broadway have graced the Joe's Pub stage. The tradition continues this month and into the fall when some of Broadway's finest vocalists and performers, including Sasha Allen and Ute Lemper, head downtown from the Great White Way to dazzle at Joe's. Bobby Cronin and more will have new songs, arrangements and classic favorites performed by some of Broadway favorites. Composer and Conductor Adam Waite met Broadway actress/singer
Mara Davi (A Chorus Line, The Drowsy Chaperone, White Christmas) while recording Broadway's Carols for a Cure Album in 2006. After collaborating on multiple concerts for Birdland,
Ars Nova, and Lyrica Chamber Orchestra, they began writing their own music and finding their own sound. In the fall of 2011, they were joined by Will Clark (Drums), Matt Jaworski (Guitar), Kris Rogers (bass) and Leena Waite (violin) and became Mara and the Bitter Suite. Their debut album, Unspoken, was produced by

Calvin Berger -- winner of the
Jerry Bock Award,
Richard Rodgers Award, Kleban Prize, and Noel Coward Prize -- is a hip, heartfelt, hysterical new musical by
Barry Wyner, loosely based on Cyrano De Bergerac. It has been performed at Barrington Stage and Manhattan Theatre Club, and most recently at
George Street Playhouse under the direction of 3-time Tony winner
Kathleen Marshall (Nice Work, Anything Goes, The Pajama Game). It is licensed by the legendary Tams-Witmark Music Library and has several songs published by Hal Leonard. The album release concert will be directed by
Travis Greisler, music directed by Aron Acurso and produced by Katie Riegel.

Hailing from Germany,
Ute Lemper is an actress and singer renowned for her interpretations of the work of
Kurt Weill, Berthold Brecht, the French chanson songbook as well as her own jazz-influenced compositions. She has made her mark on the stage, in films, in concert and as a unique recording artist. Her diverse credits include musicals, such as her breakthrough role in the original Viennese cast of Cats, the title role in Peter Pan, a recreation of the
Marlene Dietrich-created Lola in The Blue Angel, the original European Sally Bowles in a Paris production of Cabaret, and Velma Kelly in Chicago, for which she won the
Laurence Olivier Award in London. She has collaborated with Scott Walker, Nick Cave,
Tom Waits,
Elvis Costello,
Philip Glass, and Neil Hannon. The New York Times calls her a "confrontational entertainer and heir to the political cabaret tradition of Weimar-era Germany. Where sensibility and feelings come first for American cabaret singers, Ms. Lemper doesn't perform anything that isn't propelled by an idea." For her new project, Ute has composed a song cycle to the love poems of Pablo Neruda with Marcelo Nisinman. Presented primarily in Spanish with adaptations in French and English, the performance is delicate and beautiful.

For generations, musical theatre writers have come to New York City to change the world. "Once Upon A Time In New York City" is about the people who have changed THEM. This concert will feature musical theatre writers- who are ages 18 to 80, who were born in Kansas City or San Francisco or London, who are established and who are emerging- each writing a brand new song about someone who has changed their idea of New York City.
