The winner of the "Be Wicked" singing contest has been chosen.
Sixteen year-old Sarah Krauss of Hopewell, NJ was declared the winner of the contest, which was held in New York today as part of "Wicked Day" festivities. The young performer, who attended the famed Stagedoor Manor theatre camp last summer, was one of fifty whose names were randomly selected as participants in the contest, which took place outside the Gershwin Theatre.
Wicked Day comprised various celebrations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto and London that honored the smash musical's 4th anniversary on Broadway. In L.A. today, most of the stars for the upcoming L.A. production of Wicked were announced.
Wicked has been sold out at virtually every performance on Broadway, since having its official opening at the Gershwin Theatre on October 30, 2003. Last summer, it was completely sold out during its seven-week run at the Pantages Theatre.
Krauss will receive three tickets to Wicked, as well as hotel accommodations, free admission to the "Behind the Emerald Curtain" tour, a Bloomingdale's gift card and Wicked merchandise.
