Acclaimed playwright, poet and actor Sarah Jones stars in her acclaimed Broadway one-woman show Bridge & Tunnel for a limited engagement of 28 performances only at the Brentwood Theatre from September 25 to October 21 (press opening is Wednesday, September 26). Jones was honored with a special 2006 Tony Award for this production.
Bridge & Tunnel is directed by Tony Taccone, artistic director of Tony Award winning Berkeley Repertory Theatre. The assistant director is Steve Colman, Tony Award winner for Def Poetry Jam on Broadway. The scenic design is by David Korins; lighting design by Howell Binkley and sound design by Christopher Cronin. Bridge & Tunnel is produced at the Brentwood Theatre by Richmark Entertainment.
"In Bridge & Tunnel, Jones's fresh ingredients are added to the modern urban American melting pot. Building on the success of her previous show Surface Transit, fourteen characters travel the roads of assimilation to tell the story of American change in an ever-changing America. Mohammed, a charismatic Pakistani accountant; Mrs. Ling, the Chinese mother adjusting to her daughter's alternative lifestyle and Nereida, a young Latina with a quick wit and an even faster tongue, are but a few of Jones's gallery of characters. This mix of voices emanates from the reaches of New York's boroughs with origins far beyond the city's limits," state press notes.
