Santino Fontana, André De Shields, et al. to Lead Powerhouse Theater's THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE

Vassar & New York Stage and Film has announced casting highlights for the 28th annual Powerhouse Theater season (June 22-July 29, 2012) and the schedule for Readings Festival 1 (June 22-24).

Some of the noted actors joining the Powerhouse season include:
 
Chloe Sevigny (“Big Love,” Boy’s Don’t Cry, American Psycho) appears as Abigail in  Abigail/1702 by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, directed by David Esbjornson. Joining her are Patrick Heusinger (Next Fall, BLACK SWAN) as John Brown, Paxton Whitehead (The Importance of Being Ernest, My Fair Lady, Noises Off) as Judge/Rev. Parris/Man in Gray Suit, and Laila Robins (Heartbreak House) as Elizabeth/Margaret Hale.
 
Drama Desk and Obie winner Santino Fontana (Sons of the Prophet, A View from the Bridge, Brighton Beach Memoirs), Kyle Beltran (In the Heights), André De Shields (The Full Monty, Ain’t Misbehavin, The Wiz), John Ellison Conlee (The Constant Wife, The Full Monty, 1776), and Rebecca Naomi Jones (American Idiot) appear in Itamar Moses and Michael Friedman’s The Fortress of Solitude, based on Jonathan Lethem’s best-selling novel, adapted and directed by Daniel Aukin.
 
Tim Daly (“Wings,” “Private Practice”), Dana Delany (“Body of Proof,” “Desperate Housewives,” “China Beach), Seth Gilliam (“The Wire,” “Oz”) , Tony winner La Chanze (The Color Purple, Dreamgirls),  and Jon Tenney (“The Closer,” “Brothers and Sisters,” The Heiress) are among some of the many actors to appear in the free Readings Festival 1 (June 22-24). 
 
In addition to the works already announced, Readings Festival 1 features Wendy and the Lost Boys, a screenplay by Jon Robin Baitz (Other Desert Cities, Three Hotels) and Michael Hoffman (One Fine Day, The Last Station), and For Worse by Deborah Rennard (“Due South”). 

Additional casting for the season will be announced shortly.
