Sanguine Theatre Company will present the World Premiere of Gracie Gardner's PRIMARY, directed by Alex Keegan at IRT Theater (154 Christopher Street, between Greenwich and Washington), April 6-24 with performances Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. It's 1999 in suburban Connecticut. 9-year-old Sophie is certain she's the missing Sailor Scout, and she's determined to fight the forces of evil. The allure of local politics has brainwashed her underpaid and overworked mother, Laura, into a misguided campaign for State Representative. During the course of a brutal primary election, Sophie must bring her back from the dark side with whatever it takes to restore Laura to her original self.

The creative team will include Props Design by Liz Frino (Peter and the Starcatcher with Kitchen Theatre Company), Sound Design by Daniela Hart (Trapper with The Shelter; i wrote on ur wall and now i regret it with Spookfish Theatre Company), Set Design by Matthew Imhoff (Assistant Designer to Edward Pierce on West Side Story at Carnegie Hall), Lighting Design by Sarah Stolnack (Hope Summer Repertory Theatre), and Costume Design by Anna Winter (Miss Lead at 59E59). GRACIE GARDNER (Playwright) is an NYC-based playwright and performer. Her work has been developed and seen at Naked Angels, Hearth Gods, Adaptive Arts, Tiny Rhino, the Secret Theater, Dixon Place, Less Than Rent, 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, the Highline, the Workshop Theater and Core Artist Ensemble. She is a proud member of the Tank's TV Group and Project Y's Playwrights Group. She currently holds a writing residency and commission at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music for her play VERY DUMB KIDS. BA: Kenyon College graciegardner.com

ALEX KEEGAN (Director) has directed new work with organizations including Dixon Place, The Flea, The Wild Project, Stable Cable Lab, Fresh Ground Pepper, O'Neill Theater Center YPF, Judson Memorial Church, NYU Tisch, UglyRhino, Writopia Lab, and Rule of 7x7. As an Assistant Director, she's worked with 24 Hour Plays on Broadway, Williamstown Theatre Festival, O'Neill Theater Center NPC & NMTC, Primary Stages, and La Mama ETC. Member: The Habitat Directors Playground, Lincoln Center Directors Lab. Alum: The Civilians R&D Group, Williamstown Directing Corps, 24 Hour Plays Nationals Company, Women's Project & New Dramatists Internships, and the National Theater Institute. BA: Brown.
