Sanctuary Playwrights Theatre (Bob Jude Ferrante, Managing Director) announced today that it will present the world premiere of WE ARE NOW by Bob Jude Ferrante October 27 – November 17 at chashama (210 East 43rd Street). Katrin Hilbe directs.

WE ARE NOW is a wild dramatic comedy with through-composed live music and a correlatEd Gallery installation. The piece flashes forward to 2020, when nation states are obsolete and the United States government has ceded administration of the nation's population to a quasi public-private entity, The Ministry LLC. Everything in life is utilitarian until The Movement, a group of resisters, reminds the world that life has not always been under The Ministry LLC's control; tumult and hilarity result.

Sanctuary Playwrights Theatre crafted the futuristic comedy over 18 months of continuous work, through an ongoing company workshop that began with a single question, "Are we free?" In collaboration with Sanctuary's Acting Company, and guided by directors, physical theatre trainers, and designers, Ferrante crafted the story and script based on the concepts, ideas, and character outlines that emerged from this process, devising physical moments, effects.

The show is presented as an immersive experience; the audience is completely surrounded by the fictional world of the play, from the moment they enter the space from the street. Even the ticket pickup process itself is a designed to cause delight.

WE ARE NOW stars Patrick Ryan Bolger, Dennis Brito, Alex Dagg, Lois DiLivio, Rachel Halper, Dana Jesberger, Katherine C. McDonald, Tatiana Pavela, Adam Perabo, Jason Perlman and Nilla Watkins.
