Rafe Chase, Stephen Kearin & Tim Orr, who are the critically acclaimed improv ensemble 3 FOR ALL , will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special one-night only performance on Saturday, October 1st at 8pm at the Marines' Memorial Theatre (609 Sutter Street, Second Level, San Francisco, CA 94102).

The wildly popular trio is known for their unique blend of intensely dramatic and outrageously funny, completely improvised scenes based on audience suggestions. Their high-stakes improv has thrilled audiences since they hit the stage in 1996 and they continue to play to sold-out houses and rave audience reviews in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Austin, Atlanta, Finland, Amsterdam and Norway.

Ticket prices are $35 advance online (through August 31), $40 at the door. A reception with the actors will follow in the Flying Leatherneck Lounge off the theatre lobby. In the summer of 1996, San Francisco improvisers RAFE CHASE, STEPHEN KEARIN and TIM ORR, who had first met in the late 80's through the celebrated improv company Bay Area Theatresports, formed a small ensemble to pursue a distinctive brand of high-stakes improv. 3 FOR ALL performed for the first time as a group, 20 years ago at Venue 9, a small theatre in San Francisco. They are driven by the artistic principle that the work takes place "on a stage with no rules."

"Rafe and I were in a group, thinking 'Tim should be up here with us', and at the same time Tim and I were talking about maybe starting a two-person group," said Stephen Kearin, founding member of 3 FOR ALL. "So because we all enjoyed working together so much, it seemed that a three-person group was the way to go. At that time, it seemed crazy to attempt to do long form stories with only three people; it required a gear we weren't even sure we had."

In their performances, the improvisers hit the stage with no script, no preconceptions and no safety net. Along with the musical and lighting improvisers, the actors work together to tell both short and full-length stories of all genres. They often jump in to play multiple characters of all varieties simultaneously in a single scene - something 3 FOR ALL is known for. Nothing is rehearsed, nothing discussed before or during shows, nothing held over or re-worked in future shows. Nothing but improv.

3 FOR ALL routinely plays to sold-out houses and rave audience reviews in the San Francisco Bay Area. They have enjoyed equal success in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Austin, Atlanta, Amsterdam and, most recently, Norway. They have worked together on two improvised feature films, Suckerfish and Security, and a completely improvised, unedited comedy CD. http://www.3forall.com/
