SaltSpeck Productions Presents MADAM FURY'S TRAVELING SHOW, Beg. Tonight, 9/2

SaltSpeck Productions presents a showcase production of Madam Fury's Traveling Show. Performances will take place from tonight, September 2 through September 8 at the 45th Street Theatre (354 W. 45th Street). Official Opening is set for tonight, September 2 at 8pm.

Living with her mother on their farm in Oklahoma, Lillian's one wish is to find her absent father. With depression, desperation, and the dust bowl all around her, she finds herself transported from her 1930s life to the fantastical world of Madam Fury's Traveling Show, a magical circus in the dust. Amidst the curious characters, including the alluring, but mysterious namesake, Lillian must discover who her father truly was, who she is, and who she wants to become.

Valerie Fagan (Forbidden Broadway Rude Awakening, The Addams Family) plays the title character of Madam Fury, with Hollis Scarborough (Hairspray Las Vegas, Trails at NYMF) playing the lead character of Lillian. Kelvin Moon Loh (American Idiot National Tour) will play the Old Sage, with Nikki MacCallum (Matchmaker Matchmaker I'm Willing to Settle) as Doppel, Sidney Erik Wright (Disney’s Finding Nemo) as Ganger, Doug Thompson (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels National Tour) as The Ringmaster, Jacob Hoffman (I’ll Be Damned at the Vineyard Theatre) as Thomas, Lindsay Morgan as the Countess of Circumference, and Christopher deProphetis (South Pacific National Tour) as Atlas. The Ensemble includes Jenny Paul, Brent McBeth (Encores! No, No, Nanette), Amy Shure (Cats National Tour), Julia Menn, and Dominic Sellers.

Kristen Beth Williams (Rosie, Nice Work If You Can Get It) choreographs. Samantha Saltzman directs. Aaron Jodoin is the music director.

Christy Hall is a New York City-based writer and actor. Her writing includes stage plays (Yours, Isabel; To Quiet the Quiet), books for musicals (Trails), and screenplays (Little Iron Men, Midnight Special, The Sun From Both Sides). As an actor, she recently starred in the world premiere of her own World War II-era play Yours, Isabel at the Edinburgh Festival FRINGE in Scotland. www.christyhall.com

Composer Jeff Thomson is a recipient of the Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation Award, as well as the Dramatist Guild Musical Theatre Writing Fellowship. His original musical Trails was performed at the 2010 Los Angeles Festival for New Americans Musicals as well as the New York Musical Theatre Festival winning him the 2010 NYMF award for excellence in music as well as the prestigious Stage Entertainment Development Award. Other projects include Virtually Me! for TheatreworksUSA, a pop musical adaptation of the cult film Jawbreaker (book-writer Darren Stein), and a rock musical adaptation of Allan Moyle's Pump Up the Volume (Book and lyrics by Jeremy Desmon).

Samantha Saltzman’s directing credits include the 2012 NYMF Hub concert series (In My Other Life, What's Next?, NBS Reunion Concert, Pride on Broadway), Composers Sing Composers, In Trousers, No Moves Back, No More Waiting and Line. Assistant directing credits include: Pump Up the Volume (Joe’s Pub), Man of Rock (NYMF), Trails (NYMF), Jawbreaker, Killing John Grisham, Titanic Benefit Concert (NYSEC), Hair, Girl’s School Gothic, Arkansaw Bear, The Ant and The Grasshopper (Hangar Theatre). Additional credits: Rock of Ages (Broadway and Off-Broadway), Fat Camp (Off-Broadway) and See Rock City (Transport Group).

Kristen Beth Williams is currently in the cast of Nice Work If You Can Get It on Broadway. Other Broadway: Promises, Promises; Anything Goes. Off Bway: The Marvelous Wonderettes. National Tours: The 101 Dalmatians Musical, White Christmas.

Aaron Jodoin spent five years as the Music Director for the Department of Theatre and Dance at Montclair State University and continues to be a staff accompanist/music director at the Collaborative Arts Project 21 (CAP21) in New York City. He also freelances as an audition pianist where he has played for Telsey and Company, Tara Rubin Casting, Michael Cassara Casting, Clemmons/Dewing Casting, Alan Filderman Casting and scores of other casting directors and producers. His music direction credits include Trails at the 2010 New York Music Theatre Festival as well as many readings and workshops of new works.

This showcase production is meant to be the first of many steps in the show’s development designed to provide the creators their first opportunity to experience the show beyond a table read, to provide all artists involved with an opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities, and to present a new musical that is in search of experienced advisors to help guide it through its next stages of development as it continues to evolve and grow.
