Just a little after a year since Rachel Zoe launched her clothing line, rumors are swirling that sales are not leaving up to expectations.
Last fall, the Rachel Zoe Collection launched in all 41 Neiman Marcus stores nationwide and Bergdorf Goodman stores. It also launched in competing retailers, both domestically and internationally, like Saks Fifth Avenue, Shopbop, Selfidges and Intermix. Yesterday, a Saks rep confirmed to BuzzFeed Shift that the Rachel Zoe Collection is no longer available in their stores.
Things at Bloomingdale's look equally bleak. BuzzFeed's Amy Odell writes:
In Bloomingdale's, Zoe's line launched with a gorgeous, gigantic shop-in-shop, the creation of which was the subject of a considerable chunk of The Rachel Zoe Project's fourth and most recent season. However, a visit to the Manhattan flagship store yesterday revealed just four racks and change of clothes belonging to the Rachel Zoe Collection. A salesperson in the store said Zoe hasn't had significant space on the floor since last year. "She had a full shop," said the employee. Now it's "just a couple of racks."
The news seems disheartening abut not hopeless. Zoe has no shortage of Hollywood A-listers parading her fashions around in front of the paparazzi. And Bravo has recently renewed her reality show The Zoe Project. That's better brand placement than any shop-in-shop can give her.
