Sabrina Sloan (Motown, Catch Me If You Can) will lead the charge as disgraced angel-turned-preacher Peerless Jones in the September 15th concert presentation of Whiskeyland!, the epic new Boston rock fantasy created by Motown the Musical's Nik Walker and produced by Richard H. Blake, Michael Balderrama and Sean Frank Sullivan of Last Call Theatricals, LLC.
"Peerless is an incredibly complex and dynamic lead character," says Walker. "We've had some awesome talents take her on in the past, and we are so blessed to add a powerhouse like Sabrina to that roster." It seems Walker will have quite the front row seat, as he's been tapped to sing the role of Peerless' nemesis, the psychotic terrorist known as The Jester. "Yea, he's a fun one," Walker says of the character he penned. "Any time I get to take a walk in his jack boots is a wild ride."
Sloan and Walker will join an already stellar cast, with Christine Dwyer (Elphaba- Wicked) as the bartender Marianne, Eric Anderson (Soul Doctor, The Last Ship) as the rockstar Juno, and Adam Hose (Finding Nemo the Musical) as the narrating angel, Kid Kaymin. Brittney Johnson (Motown), Candi Boyd (Jersey Boys), Matt Farcher (Disaster), Michael Walker, Jenna Dallacco and Tyler McGee (If/Then) will keep things rowdy as the drunken townies, The Massholes. The band, under the direction of Mark Fifer, will feature Dillon Kondor on guitar/banjo, Marques Walls on drums and Alan Steven Hewitt on bass.
The concert, directed by Joe Ricci, will showcase a good portion of the Whiskeyland! catalogue, with rock styles ranging from soul and folk to hardcore Irish punk, all composed by Liam Nelligan and Walker. "Come on by," says Ricci. "September 15th, I promise- this is the place you'll wanna be."
