LOS ANGELES, April 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ Saatchi Art, the world's leading online art gallery, today announced the appointment of Scott Boecker, a technology leader with extensive experience in online marketplace businesses, as the company's chief operating officer. Mr. Boecker will assume leadership over product, marketing, technology, and operations as Saatchi Art accelerates its growth as a marketplace connecting art buyers and artists from around the world.
Mr. Boecker has over 15 years of product development and executive leadership experience. Most recently, he was Chief Product Officer for the leading real estate company Move, Inc., a publicly-traded online real estate company and operator of Realtor.com. During his tenure, he built the company's central product organization, drove audience growth with award-winning mobile applications, turned declining revenues into double-digit growth through revitalization of SaaS product lines and new lead generation products, and oversaw several strategic acquisitions.
At Saatchi Art (www.saatchiart.com), Mr. Boecker will oversee operations at a business redefining the experience of buying and selling art, part of a global art market valued at $65 billion a year.
"I'm excited by the tremendous potential this company has to make a real impact in helping people discover great art and helping great artists get discovered," he said. "Saatchi Art is using technology to transform the way people buy and sell art, making it easier and more accessible than ever."
"Along with 15 years of global marketplace business experience," he added, "I bring a passion for creating exceptional consumer experiences, supporting emerging artists, and building great teams."
"I couldn't be happier to have Scott join our team," said Sean Moriarty, CEO of Saatchi Art. "He has a wealth of relevant experience, cares deeply about what we are doing, and is a strong and capable leader."
Prior to Move, Mr. Boecker held senior product positions at Ticketmaster. As Vice President of European Product Development, he defined global strategy and requirements for both international expansion and creation of innovative mobile ticketing solutions. From 2001 to 2005, he was Senior Director of Product Management responsible for Ticketmaster.com. Mr. Boecker began his career in product management at eToys.com where he oversaw the integration of Babycenter.com and the launch of eToys.co.uk in London.
