Selections from SYMPATHY JONES – The New Secret Agent Musical includes 11 songs from the new 1960s-set adventure comedy about a young woman who wants to be a spy, written by Masi Asare (composer/lyricist) and Brooke Pierce (bookwriter). The recording, which features orchestrations and musical supervision by Jason Loffredo, includes the driving signature song "Super Secret Agent," the villainous duet "If I Didn't Have You," the powerhouse ballad "A Story," and more.
Kate Shindle (Wonderland, Legally Blonde) stars as the title character, reprising the part she played in the 2007 NYMF production, which earned her an Outstanding Individual Performance Award. The recording cast also includes Colin Hanlon (Rent, TV's Modern Family) as agent Henry Greene, James Moye (Million Dollar Quartet, Ragtime) as super spy Nick Steele, Nick Wyman (Rebecca, Catch Me If You Can) as intelligence agency head Roger Pinkerton, and Sue Mathys as super villainess Kitty Hawk, plus Jim Bray (Grease), Jen Percival (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Brittney Johnson (Les Miz).
First produced at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in 2007, and later developed at the ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop with Stephen Schwartz, Marcy Heisler, and Lynn Ahrens, Sympathy Jones has since had productions around the country. The show is now available for licensing through Playscripts (www.playscripts.com).
