The acclaimed comedy team of Steve Hayes and Tom Cayler return to the New York this fall to reprise their newest comedy "STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES" after a sold-out run this summer. One of the few gay/straight comedy duos, Steve (currently appearing in the new film The Big Gay Musical and best known for the gay cinema classic Trick, opposite Tori Spelling and Christian Campbell) and Tom (the Obie Award winning actor) were called "One of the Top 10 things to see in New York" by Art Forum Magazine and praised for their "unhinged manic energy" by Time Out New York. Known for their zany comedy, skewered observations and slapstick shtick, the duo will present this two person, multi-charactered homage to the Film Noir of the 40's and 50's at the club Don't Tell Mama on a weekly basis from October 12 to November 7.

"STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES" follows "Tom" and "Steve," two old friends who met in AA years ago, who both happen to share a love of Classic Hollywood. As the play begins, Steve and Tom have just been fired from their jobs as co-hosts of a long running Public Access talk show about old movies. This causes Tom to go on a bender and upon his release from rehab Steve picks him up and they drive to Steve's home town for a funeral where a world of madness and hilarity ensues complete with murder, mystery and betrayal. The town is a place with locals like Humphrey Bogart, Sydney Greenstreet, Edward G. Robinson and Barbara Stanwyck where a wisecrack, a double cross and a .45 are par for the course.

Steve Hayes - who appears as "God" in the new film The Big Gay Musical and performs on its soundtrack - is an actor, comedian and playwright who has starred in his one-man, two-person and musical comedies throughout the country. His new YouTube series "Tired Old Queen at the Movies" - in which he discusses both popular and rarely-seen Hollywood movies - begins airing in October. He was the recipient of the 2006 New York Fringe Festival Award as Outstanding Actor for his role in The Penguin Tango. Other awards include the Backstage Bistro Award for Outstanding Comedian as well as being a three time winner and nine time nominee of the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Award for Outstanding Comedian and Characterization. He starred in the Off-Broadway comedy Queen's Boulevard directed by Vince Cardinal. He wrote the book and lyris for the musical Kiss Me Quick Before the Lava Reaches the Village which was produced by the Village Theatre in Seattle, and the lyrics for the musical Girl of My Dreams which recently ran for five months at the Barter Theater in Virginia. He co-starred in the motion picture Trick for Fine Line Features, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Sundance Film Festival. Steve is featured singing on the soundtrack CD as well. He also starred in The Last Sunday In June at The Caldwell Theatre in Boca Raton. He will appear in the TWEED "Fractured Classicks Series" production of "Pic-up: A Summer Romance" at 45 Bleecker from September 18-20 and star in the new musical Moisty The Snowman Saves Christmas at the New York Musical Theater Festival from October 8-10.

TOM CAYLER is an Obie Award winning actor and a Screenwriting Fellow with the New York Foundation for the Arts. His award winning piece Men Die Sooner was filmed and broadcast by PBS. Tom's work has been funded by the New York State Council for the Arts and the NEA. He spent six months on "Guiding Light" until he was thrown out of an airplane.

KEVIN MALONY (director) has worked as a director, producer and writer at Lincoln Center's Serious Fun Festival, Carnegie Hall's Weill RecitAl Hall, The Zipper Theater, The John Houseman Theater, La Mama, HERE, Dixon Place, The Joyce Theatre, P.S. 122, and The Town Hall. He was the original producer of Bill Russell's Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens which ran in London's West End and presented the first incarnation of John Kelly's OBIE Award winning Pass The Blutwurst Bitte. He is the founder and artistic director of Tweed Theaterworks, a non-profit producing organization that has been a forerunner in downtown arts community for twenty years.
