The international percussion sensation STOMP will be featured in a stunning introduction and inserts that will be used during ABC Sports broadcast of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships this Saturday January 15 (Men's: 4-6 PM ET, Ladies': 8-11 PM). The championships can also be seen on ESPN2 on Thu. Jan 13 from 11PM ET , and Fri. Jan. 14 from 10:30 PM-12:30 AM ET.
These are a collaborative effort of Emmy Award-winning STOMP creator/ directors Luke Cresswell and Steve McNicholas, and ABC SPORTS Emmy Award creative team: producers/directors Sammy Silver & Victor Vitarelli.
STOMP, the international percussion sensation, is celebrating its 11th anniversary at New York's Orpheum Theatre. STOMP's previous forays into an ice house resulted in their eye-catching Coca-Cola "ice house" commercial and in Bette Midler's HBO film "Mondo Beyondo." STOMP is also touring the US, playing in London's West End and on a European tour.
For the filming in 20 degree temperatures, STOMP used 200 blocks of ice weighing approximately 300 lbs. each. The performances and images are a fierce blend of the rhythm and strength of a champion's performance and STOMP's electrifying power.
Featured in the competition are Michele Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Johnny Weir, Michael Weiss, Timothy Goebel, Ryan Jahnke, Evan Lysacek, Tanith Belbin, Benjamin Agosto, Melissa Gregory, Denis Petukhov, Kendra Goodwin, Brent Bommentre, Angela Nikodinov, Jenny Kirk, Amber Corwin, Rena Inoue, John Baldwin, Katie Orscher, Tiffany Scott, Philip Dulebohn, Jennifer Don and Jonathon Hunt
