STATE OF THE ARTS Host Will Be On-Site for Collective Design Fair

On May 3rd, Savona Bailey-McClain, host & producer of the radio show State of the Arts NYC on WBAI FM Radio will conduct multiple interviews on opening night of the Collective Design Fair at Skylight Clarkson Square.

Confirmed are Steven Learner, Founder & Creative Director, and Jillian Choi, Fair Director, along with several participating designers.

Celebrating their 5th anniversary, Collective Design brings together creative voices from around the world in a lively, essential discourse on modern and contemporary design and art. Based in New York City and active in the arts community throughout the year, Collective Design presents engaging conversations and educational programs to foster dialogue, encourage the exchange of ideas, and build a growing audience for collectible design and art.

Interviews will be heard on WBAI this Friday night at 5 p.m. and the podcast will be available on 36 listening platforms.

PORTUNONDO

Portuondo focuses in three fields, art, antiques and design. It is managed and run by Hugo and Diego Portuondo. It is not only a trade the brothers have pursued but also a passion for the decorative arts. Coming from a family of antique dealers, decorators and fabric designers (Gaston y Daniela est.1876) they have been exposed to the trade from an early age. Their father Jorge Portuondo Wakonigg has been in the antique business for the past 45 years and having worked alongside him in Paris and Madrid they have accumulated knowledge and experience in this specialized field. Previously both brothers were academically trained in the Arts. Their passion for 20th Century design has grown over the years leading them to fuse it together with contemporary art & design and antiques in an eclectic melting pot of styles. All this has culminated in the brothers opening a second gallery space in London at 90-92 Pimlico Road. This new and exciting venture showcases a representation of all they love and admire in Art, Antiques and Design.

CHAHAN GALLERY

Chahan Gallery opened in February of 2008; at 11 rue de Lille, at the heart of Paris' prestigious 'Carré Rive Gauche' antiques area. Highly visible and easily accessible to his clients, this space allows him to present mid-century furniture collections and to host exhibitions of the artists he promotes.

BRYCE WOLKOWITZ GALLERY

Since its founding in 2002, Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery has made a major commitment to representing new media artists who are exploring the intersection of art and technology. The gallery's dedication to supporting an array of innovative practices has been the catalyst for the expansion of its program to include painting and sculpture. The gallery takes an active role in securing and overseeing major public commissions for its roster of artists, including José Parlá's 90-foot mural for One World Trade Center, Jim Campbell's LED installation for the San Diego Airport and Ben Rubin's interactive installation for the New York Times headquarters. As a member of the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD), the gallery has a long history of dedication to exhibiting photographers with a strong socio-geographic mission, namely Canadian environmental photographer Edward Burtynsky and Amsterdam-based ethnographic photographer Jimmy Nelson. Bryce Wolkowitz Gallery also facilitates the publishing of artist monographs and organizing international exhibitions.
