Acclaimed Fort Collins, CO-based pop-folk group SHEL will release their debut album on Moraine Records/Mad King today, August 7. The self-titled effort is the group’s first full-length studio album and the follow-up to 2011’s When The Dragon Came Down EP. Watch their self-created, directed and edited "Freckles" video!

Co-produced with six-time Grammy-winner Brent Maher (Shelby Lynne, The Judds, Tina Turner), SHEL features 13 tracks and was recorded at The Blue Room in Nashville and The Blueberry Room, the group’s home studio. All songs on the album, except “The Battle of Evermore,” were written and arranged by the group—view live performance video of the track here.

Named for the first initial of their first names—Sarah, 21 (vocals, violin), Hannah, 24 (vocals, piano, keyboards), Eva, 23 (lead vocals, mandolin), and Liza, 18 (drums, percussion, djembe)—the home-schooled Holbrook sisters, all classically trained, grew up in a musical household encouraged by their father, a respected local musician, who they first appeared with on stage as his backing band.

SHEL has been performing since 2005, gracing the stages of Lilith Fair, Yo Gabba Gabba Live tour, Four Corners Folk Festival, Cornerstone, International Folk Alliance, Music City Roots, and South by Southwest. They have been featured on ABC Family/ABC.com’s “On The Rise,” in Glade’s Scented Oil Candles national television ad campaign, on NPR’s Etown, and garnered the attention of KCRW DJ and music supervisor Chris Douridas who hailed their Try To Scream EP (2010) as “one of the most impressive debuts of the year.”
