Last night was the first THE X FACTOR live elimination show. The show started off with a bang as the Top 12 sang "Without You" made famous by Usher.
The mentors came out onstage with their respective acts and waited for Steve Jones to call the 10 acts who'd made it to next week's show. The tension was palpable as audience members shouted out the names of their favorites. Finally, Steve revealed the bottom two - the Stereo Hogzz and inTENsity, both from Judge Paula Abdul's category.
When it was time for the bottom two to sing for their lives. Paula introduced the Stereo Hogzz who sang a heartfelt rendition of "Emotion" by Bee Gees, followed by inTENsity who performed an energetic performance of "My Life Would Suck Without You" by Kelly Clarkson. Both groups gave it their all for their survival songs.
The pressure was now on for the judges. Simon Cowell was first up, "If I'm going to judge it based on the two performances I've just seen, which I think I should, the act I'm going to send home because I thought they were the weakest on the night is Stereo Hogzz."
Naturally, Paula was torn between the two, "I need you all to know that you're winners. This is a competition. It's more than $5 million, because you're winning millions of fans." She voted for inTENsity to go home, which promptly caused some inTENsity members to break down in tears.
"I've seen so much growth in you and challenging yourself," Nicole Scherzinger told both groups. "Each one of you, you're stars in your own right." Her decision for the weaker group though? inTENsity.
L.A. Reid told the groups, "First of all, all of you guys have really put in a lot work. I've seen a lot of growth."
But L.A.'s vote sent inTENsity packing.
THE X FACTOR airs next Wednesday, Nov. 9th and Thursday, Nov. 10th at 8/7C on FOX!
