Songwriter Benjamin Scheuer, currently appearing in his one-man musical theater piece The Lion at Manhattan Theatre Club's The Studio at Stage II - Harold and Mimi Steinberg New Play Series at New York City Center - Stage II (131 West 55th Street), announces the release of the animated music video "Cookie-tin Banjo," which is featured in The Lion. Check it out below!

The video is made by award-winning UK director/producer Peter Baynton at Radish Pictures, with illustrations by Nicholas Stevenson from Folio Art. Lead animators are Peter Dodd and Carlos de Faria.

Scheuer and Baynton's previous video collaboration, for Scheuer's song "The Lion," won the Special Jury Award for Best Commissioned Film at the 2013 Annecy Film Festival; Best Music Video and Best Animated Video at the 2013 Crystal Palace International Film Festival; and Public Choice For Best Music Video at the 2014 British Animation Awards.

The song "Cookie-tin Banjo," available for sale on iTunes, is produced by Geoff Kraly, and features guitar and vocals by Benjamin Scheuer, harpsichord by Jacob Sacks, upright bass by Eivind Opsvik, and additional vocals by Jean Rohe. Engineered and mixed by Grammy-Award-winning Pat Dillett.

Benjamin Scheuer is the recipient of the 2013 ASCAP Cole Porter Award for Excellence in Songwriting, and the Musical Theatre Network Award for Best Lyrics.

THE LION is a true story of love, loss, family loyalty, and the redemptive power of music. Following an award-winning run at the 2013 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, writer/performer Benjamin Scheuer (winner of the ASCAP Cole Porter Award for songwriting) shares his gripping coming-of-age tale. Directed by Sean Daniels, whose work has been seen at The Kennedy Center and Actor's Theatre of Louisville, The Lion is a candid, poignant, and charming new solo musical from a next-generation troubadour.

Following evening performances of The Lion, audiences are invited to stay after the performance for a "Meet the Artist" reception in the theatre with writer/performer Benjamin Scheuer.
