The cast of The Addams Family 1st National Tour comes up with their own witty lyrics for "Carrying the Banner" from the Broadway musical Newsies, in their "Bein' Part of Newsies" music parody video. Watch it below!

The Addams Family, a new musical comedy based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, is currently touring the country. Charles Addams created several thousand cartoons, sketches and drawings—many of which were published in The New Yorker—in a prolific career spanning six decades. It was his creation of characters that came to be known as The Addams Family that brought Addams his greatest acclaim. Addams’ drawings have entertained millions worldwide and served as the inspiration for multiple television series and motion pictures.

The Addams Family features an original story and it's every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. A man her parents have never met. As if that weren't upsetting enough, she confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he's never done before - keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday's "normal" boyfriend and his parents. It’s a family portrait that’s completely off the wall.

The Addams Family began performances on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in March. The show features book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch directed and designed (sets and costumes) the production, with production supervision by Jerry Zaks and choreography by Sergio Trujillo. The Addams Family features lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by ACME Sound Partners and puppetry by Basil Twist.

International productions of The Addams Family include Brazil (March, 2012) and Australia (March, 2013) with others to be announced.

Newsies features a Tony Award-winning score with music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken and lyrics by Jack Feldman, with a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions, Newsies is directed by Tony nominee Jeff Calhoun and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his work.

The Broadway company of Newsies features Jeremy Jordan as Jack Kelly, John Dossett as Joseph Pulitzer, Kara Lindsay as Katherine Plumber, Capathia Jenkins as Medda Larkin, Ben Fankhauser as Davey, Andrew Keenan-Bolger as Crutchie, and Lewis Grosso, and Matthew Schechter alternating the role of Les.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right. Newsies is inspired by the real-life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,’ when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.
