STAGE TUBE: Sutton Foster Talks 42ND STREET-esque Beginnings on CBS' SUNDAY MORNING

Sutton Foster's start on Broadway is the real-life version of the stuff movie musicals are made of; one week before the opening of Throughly Modern Millie on Broadway, Foster received a call from director Michael Mayer, bumping her up from understudy to the star of the show-and the rest is musical theatre history. This morning, Foster sat down with CBS' Mo Rocca to chat about her journey as a Broadway actress, and her current starring roles in TV Land's Younger and The New Group's Sweet Charity. When speaking about the latter, in reference to recovering from her divorce several years ago, Foster said, "What's interesting is that I know [Charity], because I think I have been her, but luckily, I don't feel like I'm her now."

Two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster stars in TV Land's YOUNGER, beginning its third season tonight. The actress will soon be seen in Netflix's GILMORE GIRLS reboot as well as the upcoming off-Broadway revival of SWEET CHARITY.

On Broadway, Sutton Foster most recently appeared as Violet in the Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony-nominated revival of Violet, a role which garnered her Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critic Circle award nominations. She will soon star in an off-Broadway revival of SWEET CHARITY. Other Broadway credits include Anything Goes (Tony Award), Shrek, Young Frankenstein, The Drowsy Chaperone, Little Women,Thoroughly Modern Millie (Tony Award), LES MISERABLES,Annie, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Grease. Off Broadway: The Wild Party (City Center Encores!), Trust (Second Stage),Anyone Can Whistle (City CenterEncores!).

She has traveled all over the United States and internationally with music director Michael Rafter, performing songs from her two albums: Wish and An Evening with Sutton Foster: Live at the Café Carlyle. She made her Carnegie Hall debut when she took the stage with the New York Pops and music director and conductor Steven Reineke in March 2015.

On television she starred in Amy Sherman Palladino's Bunheads, earning a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy Series, in addition to appearances on Elementary, Psych, Royal Pains, Law & Order: SVU, Flight of the Conchordsand Sesame Street. She also appeared on the Netflix revival of the beloved series Gilmore Girls this fall.
