Vulture.com welcomed actress Stephanie J. Block and composer Jason Robert Brown for "The Art of Songwriting" at the first Vulture Festival, a weekend of pop culture events in New York City on May 10 and 11. During the event, Brown spoke to New York magazine theater critic Jesse Green about composing for musicals and played and sang some of his tunes with additional vocal accompaniment by Block. Song selections included "Falling Into You" and "Another Life" from The Bridges of Madison County and "Still Hurting" from The Last Five Years. Click below to watch the full performance!

Jason Robert Brown, the Broadway composer just nominated for two Tony Awards for The Bridges of Madison County, in conversation with New York magazine theater critic Jesse Green about composing for musicals-and playing and singing some of his tunes with Stephanie J. Block.

Stephanie J. Block has been recently nominated for the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical for the role of Sheryl Hoover in the 2econd Stage production of LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE this season. Audiences may also recognize her for her portrayal of Judy Bernly in 9 TO 5: THE MUSICAL, Elphaba in the Broadway Company of WICKED, Grace O'Malley in THE PIRATE QUEEN and Liza Minnelli opposite Hugh Jackmanin THE BOY FROM OZ. Stephanie also starred in the First Nat'l Touring Company of WICKED as Elphaba for which she won the 2006 Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Actress. Some of her regional credits include FUNNY GIRL , CRAZY FOR YOU (L.A. Ovation Award Nominee), OLIVER (Critics Award-Best Actress), James Joyce's THE DEAD, TRIUMPH OF LOVE , THE GRASS HARP, SOUTH PACIFIC, WILL ROGERS FOLLIES and the World Premiere of WICKED. Her voice can be heard on a number of cast recordings as well as numerous commercial jingles.
