The New York Film Festival will feature My Week with Marilyn, directed by Simon Curtis and starring Tony winner Eddie Redmayne, and will have its world premiere on October 9 as the Centerpiece at Alice Tully Hall.
Michelle Williams stars in My Week with Marilyn as Marilyn Monroe, as seen through the diaries of British filmmaker Colin Clark (played by Eddie Redmayne). The film is set in the summer of 1956, during an idyllic week in which the young Clark introduced Monroe to British life, providing welcome relief from the pressures of Hollywood.
"After seeing Marilyn Monroe so often portrayed in films as a caricature, it is a pleasure to see this complex personality and unique on-screen presence portrayed so well by such a talented actress as Michelle Williams," said Richard Peña, Film Society program director and chair of the NYFF selection committee today.
