Showtime has just announced that it has renewed its browser-based show WEB THERAPY for a Season 2. The comedy will include celebrity guests such as Meryl Streep, Conan O'Brien, Molly Shannon, Minnie Driver, Selma Blair and Rosie O'Donnell for a 10-epsiode run in 2012.
WEB THERAPY tells the story of Fiona Wallice, a therapist with no patience. Tired of hearing about people's dreams and feelings for fifty long minutes at a stretch, she devises a new kind of treatment, the three-minute video chat. And still, the sessions end up being largely about her. Emmy Award® winner Lisa Kudrow co-created, produces and stars in this outrageous therapeutic send-up. Originally produced as a series of webisodes, WEB THERAPY features a unique visual format and an A-list guest cast who, along with Kudrow, improvises their performances with hilarious results.
Kudrow's character on the show is both vain and pampered with a completely outsized opinion of herself, every patient's worst nightmare. The wife of a successful attorney and the daughter of privilege, Fiona is clearly more interested in establishing an online franchise than she is in helping anybody in need. Yet miraculously, the unsuspecting patients keep showing up.
Talk show host Conan O'Brien becomes the first celebrity to play himself on the improvisational comedy series. He seeks help from therapist Fiona Wallace in the first of a three-episode arc premiering December 14th on LStudio.com.
